Covid Clinic Opens In Idaho!

In response to the worsening COVID-19 crisis in the state of Idaho, on September 2, Covid Clinic opened its first testing location at 350 N Milwaukee Street in Boise. Covid Clinic plans to add more sites in the coming days and weeks.

Idaho is under statewide Crisis Standards of Care, as healthcare access is being rationed to those in need. According to the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare, “the number of patients needing care is more than the amount of resources (e.g. space, equipment, etc.) available … Surgeries are being postponed, emergency departments are full, and there may not be any beds for patients to be admitted to the hospital.”

According to the New York Times, as of October 7, the seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases in Idaho was just over 1,200, with an average of 748 new hospitalizations and 27 deaths per day.

“When we founded Covid Clinic, we wanted to fill in a gap to serve communities in need,” said Dr. Matthew Abinante, DO, MPH, founder and president of Covid Clinic. “That simple mission still rings true. We are proud to support the massive efforts being undertaken to save lives in Idaho. Because we are here to serve.”

The Boise Covid Clinic location is serving an average of 75 patients per day with that number expected to rise quickly. According to Our World in Data, as of October 6, 47.6% of the Idaho population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 42.2% are fully vaccinated.

“It is core to the work that we do at Covid Clinic to expand opportunities and access to all FDA-approved tools to prevent COVID-19,” said Ace Robinson, MHL, MPH, Chief Mission Officer. “Knowing one’s status is central to any pandemic response which will work in tandem with vaccinations for all who would like to get them.”

According to KIRO 7 in Seattle, patients from Idaho are seeking care in eastern Washington.

“Idaho is a state that primarily is experiencing the worst of COVID-19 in the Boise area, within its rural communities, and within Hispanic/Latinx populations,” said Alan Ruiz, Chief Operating Officer of Covid Clinic. “We are able to utilize our experience of providing services nationally since the beginning of the pandemic to a variety of communities by setting up services quickly and safely to support.”

The Boise Covid Clinic drive-through location is in the PetSmart parking lot at 350 N Milwaukee Street and is open from 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Click here to book your appointment:
